The 2024 Summer Reading Challenge
September 19, 2024 • 6pm–8pm • Annex
The 2024 Summer Reading Challenge with Why I Love Where I Live & This Is Tucson comes to a close with a celebratory book-ish happy hour complete with author meet-and-greets, and a book scavenger hunt, and fun, themed cocktails raising money for Make Way For Books.
Join us 6-8 p.m.
Thursday, Sept. 19 at the MSA Annex, 267 S. Avenida del Convento at Westbound.
Not only could you win prizes for the books you read (and you still can!), but we’re inviting book lovers to celebrate their love of reading in person.
Here’s what to expect at our bookish happy hour on Sept. 19:
Book signings and meet-and-greets with four local authors: Kathleen Glasgow of “Girl In Pieces” and “The Agathas”; Jen DeLuca of “Well Met” and “Haunted Ever After”; Sarah T. Dubb of “Birding with Benefits”; and Carolyn Niethammer of “A Desert Feast” and “The Prickly Pear Cookbook.”
Tucson Tome Gnome, a book-loving group of friends, will hide 10 free books around the MSA Annex. All 10 of the books were featured on our Summer Reading Challenge!
Order a drink from Westbound’s menu and ask for The Bookworm. Bartenders will garnish your drink with book-themed decor. Westbound will donate 10% of all bar and bottleshop sales to Make Way For Books all day Thursday.
Why I Love Where I Live will be offering 15% discounts in the whole store. Shop stickers, books, greeting cards, apparel and more Tucson-themed gear.
This Is Tucson will be giving away free stickers. We’ll also have free goodies from the Pima County Public Library!
Independent bookstore Mostly Books will be set up to sell books.
You’ll have one last chance to enter our raffle to win tickets to local attractions and signed books. To enter, stop by the #ThisIsTucson & Why I Love Where I Live table with a copy of a book you read from our reading list. E-books are fine!
See ya there!
