The Magnetic Chamber
The Magnetic Chamber is an ongoing creative research project by Geneva Foster Gluck. Oriented as an ecological intervention, this body of work attends to energy practices which contribute to our climate crisis and environmental racism. Using visual, spatial, and immersive storytelling the work aims to expand perceptions of energy-as-electricity by asking us to think more pluralistically about energy, and in doing so, conjure kinder, more equitable and sustainable powers into being.
With electrical phenomena as a through-line, The Magnetic Chamber takes many forms, which include: object installation, video, site interventions, wi-fo and radio soundscapes, performance rituals, handmade bio-batteries, and an accompanying experiential learning approach.
While portions of this exhibit are on display 24/7 until July 19th, special performance elements take place Wednesday-Sunday evenings from 7:30-9:00pm. Find The Magnetic Chamber on display now in building 8 at the MSA Annex.
